Common Roots Urban Farm has a few spaces available for Farm Stewards.
Farm Stewards are cornerstone volunteers for the urban farm. Farm Stewards have one afternoon shift a week on the farm, and do 3 jobs: They help tend to an area of 'common' beds; encourage and support the gardeners and farmers; and harvest some daily data.
More information is available here: http://www.cdha.nshealth.ca/giving-volunteering/volunteering/currently-recruiting-1 (Copied below).
The Common Roots Urban Farm is currently recruiting for Farm Stewards. The Urban Farm is located on the corner of Bell Road and Robie Street. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to a three hour shift Tuesday through Sunday, 3 pm - 6 pm, or on Tuesday and Thursday, 5 pm - 8 pm. Approved volunteers will need to attend orientation sessions; the dates of these sessions will be provided once interviewed and screened.
Farm Steward volunteers are able to spend a whole season outside on the farm. This position keeps volunteers physically and socially active while meeting new people and learning & sharing knowledge about urban agriculture, while growing community. Farm Steward volunteers have access to a shared community garden plot and common gardens; volunteers should be able to take home small amounts of fresh herbs, flowers and/or vegetables.
If you have an interest in gardening and would like to be a part of this year's exciting growing season, please contact Dachia Joudrey at 902-473-5421 or dachia.joudrey@nshealth.ca
Thank you! Happy springtime. I see the crows starting on their nests.
Thanks for your support.
warmly
