Our Road Trip April 24, 2013

Hi everyone!

As agreed at our last meeting, we will be making a SHORT road trip for our April meeting.  We will NOT be meeting at the Rec. Centre in April.  Instead, we will be meeting at the Keshen Goodman Public Library!

Overview:
You don't need a garden to grow food. Even a few pots, window boxes, or pallets can be transformed into your own food factory! Join author and radio personality Niki Jabbour and learn all the basics of growing food in containers.

Again, this is on our regular meeting night for April and replaces our meeting.  Please note that Niki's talk starts at 7:00pm.

Tonight, we welcomed special guest, Oren Hercz who treated us to some delicious herbal remedies for cold and flu season!  Thanks for a great attendance on such a cold night!

Keep an eye out for the perennial order being posted by this weekend!  Share it with family, friends and neighbors this month and bring the order forms and cash/cheques to the Feb.27 meeting!  We always look forward to this annual fund-raiser and we hope you'll enjoy the variety in this year's selections!

Next month, we will have another special guest, Niki Jabbour, who will be educating us on the intricacies of year round vegetable gardening.  If you are so inclined, Nikki's book is available in stores or on-line in hard-cover, paperback, and e-book formats.  

We know that this topic will leave you inspired to get gardening so we'll be starting the evening off with a seed swap!  Bring your seed stash and some baggies or envelopes and get started on this year's garden planning! 

Once again, we will be collecting donations for our food bank who helps support local families in need.

It's going to be a busy night so we'll plan to start collecting the perennial orders at 7pm!  We'll aim for Niki's talk to begin shortly after 7:30pm.

Meeting Wed. Oct. 26th

Welcome Alison!

This week, we will be welcoming Alison from Halifax Seed! Allison has agreed to share information on fall veggie gardening extracted from her longer workshop offered through Halifax Seed. She has so much information to share; it promises to be an interesting night!

If you have not yet had a chance to register, we will have registration forms on hand. The cost is $20 for the year or $30 for couples.

It stays local!

We will once again be collecting for the local food bank at each meeting, so please bring along a food item for the donation box - every bit helps!

We will also have an opportunity to share announcements so feel free to speak up and let us know about any interesting local news you would like to share.
